This course provides defense attorneys with a practical understanding of forensic genetic genealogy (FGG) and how it is used in criminal investigations. Attendees will learn how FGG cases are built, where errors and assumptions can occur, and how investigative decisions—not just lab results—impact outcomes. The course will highlight common pitfalls in DNA interpretation, limitations in current methodologies, and areas where overstatement or misapplication of genetic evidence can occur. Participants will leave with strategies to critically evaluate FGG evidence and identify weaknesses for cross-examination and case development.
