About me
Katie is an attorney at Maricopa Co. Public Defender. She has been with the since 2017. Katie was born and raised in Central Phoenix and is a graduate of Camelback High School. She is a first-generation college student/graduate and has a B.A. in Secondary Education Social Studies from ASU in 2009.
After graduating from college, Katie moved to Portland and dedicated the first five years of her career to education and youth work. Following her work in Portland, she attended Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon. During law school Katie interned at Maricopa Co. Public Defender, the Oregon Court of Appeals, The Oregon Innocence Project, the Willamette Veteran's Law Clinic, and she spent her last semester working full time with a misdemeanor jury trial case load at Metropolitan Public Defender in Portland.
Katie joined MCPD in 2017 as a law clerk and spent her first year as an attorney in EDC. Katie has been in trial group for a little over seven years. In her free time, she volunteers as the Co-Chair of the AACJ Legislative Committee by coordinating AACJ's lobbying efforts at the Arizona State Legislature. Additionally, Katie has served on a number of different city and local committees concerning police reform and school safety. Katie is currently a Governing Board Member in the Creighton Elementary School District.
