About me
I am originally from Longview, Washington. I attended Washington State University, earning a BA in Criminal Justice and Sociology. I also attended Michigan State University and earned an MS in Criminal Justice. My non-legal career history includes work as a Management Analyst for the Department of Defense in Seaside, California, a court programs analyst in Salem, Oregon, a juvenile counselor in Beaverton, Oregon, and as an English teacher in Osaka, Japan.
After graduating law school at the University of Arizona in 2008, I started my legal career in Yuma, Arizona with Yuma County Legal Defender's Office handling a variety of felony cases. In 2010, I moved to Phoenix and began working for the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office. Starting in RCC, I handled a variety of felony matters. In 2011 I joined the Vehicular Unit at the PD's office, where I worked Aggravated DUI, Manslaughter, 2nd Degree Murder cases, and other random cases involving vehicles. In 2014, I left the MCPD and started my own solo practice in Chandler. As part of my solo practice, I've continued representing indigent defendant's through various contracts. I've worked as a contract attorney for the Phoenix Court Appointed Attorney's (CAA) Office for 10 years, and recently joined the Behavioral Health Court there as a CAA. I was the Town of Guadalupe Public Defender from 2016 through 2019. I've also been a conflict defense attorney and a conflict prosecutor at the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community Court. In addition to indigent defense, I represent private clients in criminal matters throughout courts in the East Valley.
When I'm not pretending I know something about the law, I'm usually spending time with my wife, son, and cocker spaniel, and pretending that I can play the guitar better than I actually can.
